Inventory App
A web-based inventory management app for small to medium product-based businesses like distributors, home businesses, or warehouse operators.
It helps business owners track product stock levels, restocks, and outflows in real time — replacing cluttered spreadsheets or notebooks.
The result: less overstocking, fewer missed sales due to out-of-stock items, and better control over cash tied up in inventory.


A Brief Story
A local food distributor with ~200 products (snacks, dry goods, and beverages) managed inventory using Excel and physical notebooks:
- Each product had different packaging (e.g., carton, piece, dozen), causing confusion during data entry.
- Inventory updates were done manually at the end of the day — often skipped when the team was too busy.
- When clients requested large orders, the team frequently didn’t know if stock was actually available.
- OOverstocking was common because there was no automatic tracking of inflow vs. outflow.
- Product expiration dates weren’t tracked, leading to waste and refunds.
The team was small (3 people) and had no in-house IT team. They needed a simple but structured tool to track inventory activity and make restocking decisions faster.
Approach
We created Inventory App, a mobile-friendly inventory app with barcode support and intelligent restock tracking.
Item Master Data:
- Add/edit products with category, brand, SKU, packaging type, and unit price
- Optional photo upload for better visual recognition
- Custom fields for expiration dates and suppliers
Stock In & Out Tracking:
- Stock auto-deducted after each sale
- Manual stock adjustment for spoilage or restock
- Low-stock badge alert on dashboard
Sales Reports:
- Staff can log when stock enters or exits (sales, damaged, returned, etc.)
- Real-time stock count updates instantly
Low Stock Alerts:
- Minimum stock level can be set per item
- Items appear in a “To Reorder” view when threshold is hit
Expiry Monitor:
- Products with near expiration (e.g., < 30 days) are highlighted
Impact on the Business
Accurate Stock Visibility:
- Out-of-stock sales attempts dropped significantly (from 1-3 per week to near zero)
- Team could confirm availability instantly while taking client orders via phone
Improved Restocking:
- Owner noticed they stopped overbuying 5-10 low-demand items
- Cash tied in slow-moving stock decreased by ~Rp. 2-3 million after 2 months
Saved Time on Inventory Checks:
- Manual stocktake used to take 2 days every month
- Now reduced to ~3-4 hours because most data is already accurate day-to-day
